Global Engineering Education Exchange (Globel E3 Program):
Global E³ is an international exchange program for engineering students at member institutions. The program offers the opportunity for American students to study in one of 17 countries overseas, and for international students at partner campuses to study in the United States. Engineering and computer science students from Global E³ consortium member institutions can study abroad for one semester or a full academic year. Students are also given the opportunity to complement their study abroad experience with an internship after one semester of study abroad

IAESTE Consortium Programs:
The IAESTE United States Consortium is dedicated to providing short-term international programs for technical students. As a member of the IAESTE Consoritum Rice University students are eligible to apply for all consortium programs. For more information click here.

INNOVATE: Annual conference held each spring for undergraduate and graduate technical students that examines the relationship between technology, globalization, and leadership in the contemporary marketplace. Student delegates spend five days each in two countries in Asia participating in meetings with key business, academic, and government leaders and also conduct professional site visits to companies. INNOVATE 2008 will travel to Vietnam and Singapore. This program is administered by Rice University through the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and is partially supported by the NSF-PIRE program. For more information, click here.

NanoJapan: A summer research internship program in the field of nanotechnology for freshman and sophomore students. Students completed a three-week language and culture orientation program in Tokyo followed by eight to nine week research internships with leading nanotechnology researchers throughout Japan including labs at Tokyo Institute of Technology, University of Tokyo, Keio University, RIKEN, Osaka Institute of Technology, University of Osaka, Hokkaido University, Tohoku University, and Shinshu University. NSF East-Asia Pacific Summer Institute (EAPSI): The East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes provide U.S. graduate students in science and engineering:  1) first-hand research experience in Australia, China, Japan, Korea, New Zealand or Taiwan; 2) an introduction to the science and science policy infrastructure of the respective location; and 3) orientation to the society, culture and language. For more information click here.

Rice University Office of International Programs: The Office of International Programs at Rice University offers semester, academic year and summer study abroad and exchange program opportunities including programs specifically geared towards the needs of Rice Engineering students.  Exchange programs that may be well suited to engineering students include the National University of Singapore, Hong Kong University of Science & Technology, and the Middle East Technical University (Turkey).
