There are a wide number of scholarships available for international experience, directly through Rice University and through national competitive programs. We encourage all engineering students to speak with a study abroad advisor in the Office of International Programs and the Office of International Fellowships and Scholarships for more information on what funding options might be available for the programs for which you are applying. A number of scholarships are available for summer study and the application process for those scholarships tends to be competitive.
There are limited funding opportunities available for students wishing to work abroad, so carefully investigate your work abroad program to be sure you know exactly how much you will be paid and if this wage is sufficient to support you while in-country. Most work abroad programs will not cover the cost of international travel, passports, visas, work permits or health insurance, so be sure to factor these costs into your budget as well. | |
