KAUST Discovery Scholarship


Annual Deadline: Application opens in September for Fall of Following Year

The KAUST Discovery Scholarship is the general scholarship program of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST). This program is designed to ensure that any highly talented student who is qualified and eligible to enroll in KAUST will receive full financial support while at the University towards the completion of a Master of Science degree. Those who receive a Discovery Scholarship will receive full tuition support, a living stipend, and summer and career enrichment programs.

This scholarship is merit-based and open to men and women from around the world who are in the process of pursuing their undergraduate degrees. It will provide up to two years of financial support for students to complete their undergraduate degree and recipients will then enroll into KAUST with full-funding towards the completion of a Master's degree commencing in 2009, 2010, or 2011.

Available fields of study at KAUST include Bioscience, Chemical and Biological Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Earth Science and Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Applied Mathematics and Computational Science, Computer Science, Marine Science and Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Chemical Science. KAUST accepts online applications for this program with the deadline typically falling in early-to-mid January.

Peace Corps

Since 1961, the Peace Corps has shared with the world America's most precious resource – its people. Peace Corps Volunteers serve in 74 countries in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe, and the Middle East. Collaborating with local community members, Volunteers work in areas like education, youth outreach and community development, the environment, and information technology. Coming from all walks of life and representing the rich diversity of the American people, volunteers range in age from college students to retirees. Every Peace Corps Volunteer's experience is different. A range of opportunities for engineering and science students exist within the Peace Corps including placements in the Environment, Agriculture, Health, HIV/AIDS, and Information Technology, among many other areas of specialization. US Fulbright Program

Sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Fulbright is the largest U.S. international exchange program offering opportunities for students, scholars and professionals to undertake international graduate study, advanced research, university teaching, and teaching in elementary and secondary schools worldwide. US engineering and science students are particularly underrepresented in US Fulbright applicant numbers and opportunities exist for graduating seniors, graduate students, post-doctoral students, professionals, and faculty. Recent Rice Fulbright recipients include Jonah Shaver who received a grant to conduct post-doctoral research at the Centre de Physique Moleculaire Optique et Hertzienne of Bordeaux University in France.
